Cortisol
Cortisol
Service Description
The cortisol test measures the amount of cortisol, a hormone made by your adrenal glands, in your blood. Cortisol plays a key role in managing stress, regulating blood pressure, and balancing your body's response to illness. This test helps doctors identify conditions like Cushing's disease, where cortisol levels are too high, Addison's disease, where they're too low, or even how cortisol might be affecting conditions like depression. Your doctor uses this test to get a better understanding of your body's hormone levels and diagnose potential issues with your adrenal glands.
