Leptin
Leptin
Service Description
The Leptin test measures the level of leptin, a hormone produced by fat cells that helps regulate body weight, appetite, and metabolism. Leptin plays a key role in signaling the brain to reduce appetite and increase energy expenditure. Abnormal levels of leptin can be associated with obesity, eating disorders, and metabolic conditions. High levels may indicate leptin resistance, where the body doesn’t respond to the hormone properly, often seen in obesity. Low levels could suggest issues related to malnutrition or hormone imbalances. This test is useful for evaluating conditions related to weight management, appetite control, and metabolic health.
