Do I Need a Hep B Titer If I Had the Vaccine?

What Do Hepatitis B Titer Results Mean?

Below 10 mIU/mL: you're not protected, or your levels have dropped over time

A high number, like 1,000: strong protection. Higher isn't a problem
Vaccinated years ago and now testing low? Antibody levels naturally drop over time, but your immune memory usually stays. Your school or employer will tell you if they need a booster.
If your result is low, you'll get the vaccine from your doctor or pharmacy (we don't give vaccines), then retest 1 to 2 months after your last dose, as the CDC recommends.
Hepatitis B Titer FAQ
How long do hepatitis B titer results take? About 1 to 3 business days after your sample reaches the lab, sent to your patient portal.
How long is a hepatitis B titer good for? If your result showed you're immune after the vaccine series, most programs accept it long-term, and the CDC doesn't recommend routine retesting. Some schools or employers set their own time limits, so check their rules.
