4. Flushed Skin: Your skin may turn red as your body temperature increases.

What to Do if Someone is Experiencing Heat Stroke

2. Move to a Cooler Place: Get the person out of the heat and into a cool, shaded, or air-conditioned area.

3. Cool the Person Down: Use whatever methods you can to cool the person down. This might include:

- Fanning them while misting them with cool water.

- Placing them in a cool shower or bath.

4. Hydrate: If the person is conscious and able to drink, offer water. Avoid sugary or alcoholic drinks.


Preventing Heat Stroke



Prevention is the best way to handle heat stroke. Here are some simple tips:


1. Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you’re not thirsty.

2. Wear Appropriate Clothing: Light-colored, loose-fitting clothes help your body stay cool.

3. Avoid Peak Heat: Try to stay indoors during the hottest parts of the day, typically between 10 AM and 4 PM.

4. **Use Sunscreen:** Sunburn affects your body’s ability to cool down, so protect your skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen of at least SPF 30.

5. Take it Easy: Avoid strenuous activities in the heat. If you must exercise, do it early in the morning or later in the evening.

6. Be Aware: Pay attention to weather reports and heat advisories. Plan activities accordingly.

7. Check on Others: Ensure elderly, young children, and pets are not left in hot environments, as they are more susceptible to heat stroke.
